Can anyone recommend a company to do a Vinyl Covered Aluminum trim wrap job with good quality and reasonable price? We do not want to paint the trim every other year. Thanks ahead Clara |

If you are talking about vinyl capping over wood trim, call Han Lee at 571-238-5088. Even if you don't do capping, you do not need to paint it every the other year. Once every 5 years would be adequate.(unless you have water back up making the wood rotten. But in that case, you'd need to replace the wood, not just paint it over.) |

Thank you for your info. Could you please kindly explain further or your opinions whether choose paint every 5 years or capping cover? I do know the price is very different but how much difference? If I choose capping over, it takes 10 to 15 years to break even. Is it true? Thanks ahead. Clara |

My personal preference is painting. Capping will not competely prevent the wood from getting bad. It's just that you don't see it if it's bad. In fact, if the capping job is not done right, water/mositure can still get in and once it gets in, it gets trapped and will slowly damge the wood. I do not know about the going rates so I can not speak of cost. Years ago I had my previous home capped but I have forgotten about how much I paid. The question of beaking-even really depends on how long you plan to live in your home. When I sold my house, I am not sure if it made any difference at all. My speculation is I would have gotten the same price had I not not done the capping. So, I probably did not get much of my $ back. One last thing, if you go with painting, make sure the painter uses good paint. Good luck. |
